    Six year old
    Hey,

My six year old child had and accident in the bathroom and split his gums. By this time his baby teeth were already out. I am afraid that his teeth are decaying. It's been about five months and he recently went to see his pediatrician and he told me that they might have to cut his gums. I want to know will his teeth grow out without his gums being cut. This could be a very painful procedure and would like to know if I can avoid my little one from being in so much pain.

    PLEASE HELP!

Unfortunately without looking at x-rays it is impossible to say what will happen with his gums and teeth.

Now, if the "gum cutting" does indeed need to be done, it is usually done under anesthesia and is actually not very painful.
