    Cracked and loose wall tiles
Only a few months ago we had our bathroom tiled with travertine stone tiles. We noticed a few hairline cracks appearing in the grouton the wall behind the toilet but didn't worry too much. Over the last couple of moths that crack has split about an inch wide pushing the tiles up in the window ledge, also several tiles have come completely loose on the wall. Now there are cracks in the shower area and tonight I noticed that one of the tiles has a crack running right the way through it.we paid our builder loads but he turned out to be a cowboy so we are on our own with this one. Any suggestions on what is causing it and how to fix the problem?

That crack right through the tile tells me you have movement in the wall. Do any doors or windows seem too snug or hard to close?

Thank you for your reply. The back door used to be difficult to close (had to slam it shut), which was almost directly beneath it. But we replaced it about six weeks ago, and the crack in the tile seems to have just appeared. Could it still be the cause of the cracked grout and now the tile?
