    Stem Replacement - Hose Bib
Stem is crushed and needs replacement. See the large nut at the base (not the 3/4 - the larger one in back) - it's larger than a spark plug socket. Can't get a good grip with crescent wrench (it's also fairly thin).

    Questions:
1 - will this come off with the right socket?
    2 - 1/1/4?
    2 - is it replaceable?
3 - if so, any plumbing supply outfit?

    Thanks.

First shut off the water to the house, get an adjustable wrench or a big chanellock turn the nut counter clockwise, remove the stem assembly take to a plumbing supply get a new one and replace it, see the images below, good luck.

Thanks - I already removed that nut - it does nothing. I have to remove the big one behind it. (probably twice the diameter). It's hard to get a grip on - I can't move it with a wrench - that's why I asked those three questions.

Apply some WD-40 and let it soak for a few minutes and try, Thanks.

Thanks - I've done that. The bib is very close to the wall and the removal nut is angled toward the wall - working from the side is difficult. The "backflow valve" is also calcified into the spout, so I can't remove that for more room. I think I need to get a socket over it. Do you think that would work better?

Yes the socket should work make sure you have a bigger breaker bar, good luck.
