Surgery was done 4/2/12 and I had a few questions regarding follow up care. Like for instance.. when should be the bandgage be changed or why should it removed. How long should follow up be after surgery. Things like that.

Sorry to hear about your situation. If I may ask, what was the reason for the amputation?

I know someone that is undergoing this as well. We were told that it is several (3-4) weeks before her hand will heal fully. I would follow-up frequently to prevent any infection as I am sure the circumstances for the amputation would make it more susceptible for further damage.

Are you given any indication of the kind of prostheses available in your situation? I believe there are cosmetic (non-functional) options but with more money and if you are willing to engage in more experimental techniques there are more complex options.
