Where can I find out how much I have put into my 401k

Check out the quarterly statements that you should be receiving, or go on line and log into your account.

If you don't have any statements (perhaps you moved and failed to provide a forwarding address?) then ask the HR department how to contact the 401(k) plan administrator.
