    Tax treaty
I am a postdoc from Israel on a J1 visa. My DS-2019 form is for 3 years. We arrived on Feb2011. Am I elegible for the tax treaty?
I understand the tax treaty for 2 years - so I'm OK. BUT - I understand that if the invitation is for more than 2 years than I'm in trouble.
In fact, we do not intend to stay more than 2 years. My husband got a leave of absence from his work only for 2 years.

    Please advise me

You can claim the treaty for 2 years. I'm from Israel as well and my DS2019 was for 5 years and I had no problems claiming the treaty.
    Pessach sameach!

Another question - do I need to submit extra files showing I did not expect to stay for more than 2 years, or just submit it as is?
