I'm trying to play a game, but it's not working. I read on a forum where they said I'd have to change my audio channel from 8 to 6, I don't know how I do that. I guess I'm dumb.

"I thought by audio was set to 6 channel, but somehow it got set to 8, no idea why. Switched it back to 6, and now I can play, no problem, thanks! Still, the game shouldn't crash just because it doesn't like the number of audio channels, so Deep Silver needs to look into that issue."

"I had the same problem. Changing my sound card to 6 channel instead of 8 fixed it. (As suggested on the german forums.)"

Generally audio and speaker configuration is achieved through the Windows control panel applet, either the vanilla Windows applet or by an applet installed with the audio hardware. The game itself may also have configuration settings within the game options.

Knowing which game, your particular audio hardware, and Windows version may elicit a better response.
