Can anything be done about a coworker abusing FMLA leave?
One of my coworkers takes intermittent FMLA leave due to her child, but takes at least twice (probably more like 3x) the allotted 12 weeks off. She says she works from home enough to make up the difference but it's evident that she's only putting in from half an hour to a couple hours on these days, and it's often from 10-12 pm (everyone else on the team is required to work their 40 hrs between 7am & 7pm). She is best friends with her manager, so the manager ignores and even sometimes tries to cover up what's actually happening.
So I guess my question is, what can I do about this? My position is such that I am supposed to work very closely with her, and her extreme absenteeism is impacting my work and my deadlines, but luckily I do not report to the same manager. I've been considering calling the ethics hotline, but I'm not really sure what would happen.
