My refrigerator has been making popping sounds for the last two weeks, finally last night it made a popping sound and it stopped working but not the freezer that is still fine. What does this mean?

It means you better go shopping for a new one... or get someone out to look at that one. Unless you are an HVAC person with all the tools... its not a very user friendly thing to work on.

If its very old... like 10+ years... just get a new one... if its just out of warranty, it might be worth getting fixed. Anything between those it's the toss of a coin... but I'd lean towards a new one.
