    Did I hurt myself?
I've had this bump on the side of my foot for a really really long time and the doctor said it was a ball of fluid. But, it really really hurts sometimes, and it hurts suddenly. Also, when I stand on my toes; I get this shooting, aching pain and I can NOT bear weight. Then, I fall on the ground and start crying while I hold my foot. It is on the left foot on the inside. Should I get crutches? My mom knows about it and how I can't stand on my toes but it really really hurts. Not all the time but most of the time and especially when I stand on my toes. Should I get crutches? Please answer fast!

Crutches? Why not get it taken care of at the doctor's office?

Because I already went and my family is losing money so I don't think I can go again. Crutches?

Did the doctor suggest treatment for the ball of fluid, like lancing and draining it?

No he said it would be fine in a couple weeks but that was like a year ago. I can't drain it because its hard and it's so hard if feels like a bone but its not.

So go to a doctor and have it removed and the area treated. Crutches won't do anything for you.

It can't be removed. It is like having an extra bone on the side of my foot. It is under the skin. It is about and inch by an inch. Almost a perfect circle. It used to be sticking out a lot but it has gone down; but still really big.

Something is obviously wrong. Why won't you go back to the doctor?

    Yup, I'm here.

You've said it was a fluid-filled bump and now you say it's like a bone sticking out. I would sure visit my doctor to find out what it is, especially if it causes me pain.

My mom doesn't think I need to go when I obviously do. I think I might have plantar fasciitis. Do you?

And it's not really a bone, it just looks like one is sticking out is what I meant.

No. I had a boyfriend with that. Your description doesn't sound like that at all.

Oh OK. Thanks. What do you think it could be? I honestly don't think that my doctor is right. I don't think it's a ball of fluid. Do you?

    Could it be bursitis?

    No, it's not bursitis.

A podiatrist can tell you what it is. It may be a ganglion cyst.

Yes, but I googled that and I found that it is on the top of your foot and mine is on the side. I am icing it right now.

It can be on the side too.
