Liquid Plumber to clean a Dishwasher
My husband put liquid plummer in our dishwasher and now I'm wondering if it is safe to use. Are there chemicals that will stay behind?

You should have started you own new question rather than tag onto an old one, it can confuse us. Liquid plumber should not be used in a dishwasher, it can ruin the seals and other internal parts as well as your racks. Run the washer with a small amount of dishwasher detergent several times and it should be fine if the seals are not already ruined. What was your initial issue that caused your husband to use liquid plumber?

I wasn't thinking, once it went through as a post it was too late. Sorry for confusion.

It kept getting clogged and it started to smell like (excuse me). So for some reason he thought putting liquid plummer (he's no handyman).

I have cleaned it out with Glisten, do you think I still need to use dish soap?

Thanks. Again sorry for the confusion.

Hi mskerijjas and Welcome to The Plumbing Page. At AskMeHelpDesk.com. You're responding to a 5 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. Look in then upper left hand corner of the first post form the date in the first post before you post, Thanks,
Liquid Plumber huh? Bad idea! I hope you didn't let it set too long in the dishwasher before you flushed it out. Cycle the washer a few times to flush it out. Then remove the racks and wipe them down with bleach. Rinse them off and sponge out the sump and wipe that out also. Now everything off with bleach. Rinse everything out by cycling the DW two or three times.. You should be OK now. Good luck, Tom

It won't be left behind, but it will eat the porcelain. For smells, try 1/2 cup of bleach in the wash cycle or at least clean out the bottom screen.
