How to set the idle on a honda 1011 Harmony riding mower
I have a 11 year old 1011 Honda Harmony riding mower which I bought used from a neighbor and it started to stop after running for a short time mowing. Cleaned the carburetor, air filter, put in a new spark plug, etc. It runs very fast in the lowest setting on the speed selector. I tried to adjust the idle speed adjustment and it does not seem to make any difference, if it is screwed completely in or out or in-between.
When you move the speed selector to the fast it only goes up a little in RPM from the lowest selection. Instruction says it should run at 1750-1950 RPM, seems like it does that in the lowest selection, although I have no way to meter that.

Any suggestion on what might be wrong. I reconnected everything like it came off when I cleaned the carburetor...
    Thanks,

    Hi,
It sure does not sound as if everything went back the way it came off. The common places for mistakes are torn intake gasket, governor link in the wrong hole, throttle shaft stuck wide open and governor adjustment tampered with during disassembly. I attach a link to a Honda service manual. It goes to the European Honda website since they are routinely unavailable in the US. It is:

    honda GXV340K1 engine
And pages 55 and 57 cover carb and governor adjustment. Page 69 shows the components. Do not be surprised if some pages are in three other languages.
    Peace,
    Clarke
