NJ filing status "part year resident" or whole year resident?
Both my wife and I worked in NJ in 2011. In 10/2011 I moved to CA for a new job. My wife stays in NJ with her existing job. We file jointly for Fed so we are going to file jointly for CA and NJ. What's our filing status for NJ? Is it part-time resident or whole year resident? I guess my wife was whole year resident and I was part year resident plus nonresident. However on NJ-1040 the residency status is for both of us. If we have to file NJ as whole year resident, should I report my W2 from CA to NJ? I have paid CA source income to CA as a CA resident. I don't want to be double taxed. We all have paid too much tax. Thanks.

File part-year and adjust income to show California income as untaxed.
