Classical music in The Money Pit (1986)
Hi! In the 1986 movie The Money Pit: What is the classical music piece called that plays when Shelley Long and Alexander Godunov are in the restaurant early in the movie? With a beautiful wallpainting in the back. They walk by a fruitplate. Right when he says something like "You look more beautiful than ever..why did we ever divorce?"
    It begins with a flute:
    Duu-dudi-duu dudi-duu dudi-duu.. dudidudidudidudidudidudi-duu-dii.
    Thanks!

Also it was common as a Nokia phone-ring-signal in like 2000. Can´t find it the phone I have now though... I´m "pretty" sure it had the word FUGA in the title..

Try "Ode to Joy" -- flute version on YouTube. The Ode is from one of the listed musical selections in the movie (from Beethoven's "9th").

Go to 1 min. 30 sec. on this YouTube video: Ode to Joy

I don´t think this piece is listed. The 9th is played and sung during the characters wedding in the very end. There are several pieces in this movie and others also that are not listed in credits nor on imdb. If you haven´t seen the movie, and if you´re only guessing, you´re just waisting time for both of us. Thanks anyway. Anyone who has actually seen the movie and has more knowledge in classical music than me? Please let me know.

She wasn't "waisting" time - she was trying to help you. Be nice.

My son saw the movie and thinks it was this (Bolero by Ravel) --

Aditya plays Bolero by Ravel on the flute - YouTube

    Or, without the piano --

    Bolero, Flute Solo

I said thanks. That´s nice. Wild guesses is waisting time. Irrelevant whining and pointing fingers is not helping either nor is it nice. If you can help, please do. If you just want to point fingers and whine, please try some other forum, maybe Personal Wellbeing.

They weren't wild guesses. I am a librarian and did my best searching just for you. Athos wasn't whining or pointing fingers. He was defending the librarian.

No, that´s not it. Nothing like it. The piece I mean is faster. Check out the movie, it´s a great comedy with lots of great classical music, opera, 80´s pop etc.

It's now in my Netflix queue, and since I was almost a music major, I am sure I will recognize it. More later.

You can hear in the orchestra rehearsal the second movement of Beethoven's 9th (about 1:30 of the piece).

I just watched that part of the movie (my Netflix came through). My son and I think it's Mozart. It's very famous, but we can't pin down a title (yet).

    Not Mozart or Beethoven.

    It's by JS Bach called
    "Badinerie" from
Orchestral suite no 2 in B minor part 7
