Going to court next week over old debt
I opened a credit card account with Amoco in 1987. I kept it in good standing for years, but I cut it up and stop paying around 1995-96. They eventually charged if off, but then BP bought out Amoco in 1998 and they sent me collection for awhile but then they charged it off and did not hear anything until late last year. Starting getting many calls for a lawfirm handling junk debts that were bought by Midland Corp. Never answered phone, then last year in December got a summons, went to the courthouse and filed an answer, now they have sent me a Notice of Trial which is next Tuesday, the 27th. I am going there without a lawyer, don't have time now to get one or the money to. I want to ask what will happen when I go, I have done a lot of research about these junk debt buyers online and have taken many notes to take with me but I am 60 years old and unemployed and scared. I know they can't kill me, but my nerves are shot over these people. What else can I do? Thanks for listening, leakiks
