    I have blue, white, green and have matches where does the red wire go?

    Not exactly a lot of information. Fans usually have two "hots" of various colors black/blue/red/black with white stripe etc. One is for the lights and one is for the fan motor. They are separate in case you remove the light kit or want to wire the fan and light to separate switches. If this is a ceiling fan you only have one wall switch you wire both the fan and light together and control them from the pull chains. Hope this helps.
