    Resident alien
    Hi,

I was in the united states during my childhood (10 years old - J2 visa) when my dad was a visiting professor here for 11 months (330 days - Sep 1992-August 1993). Since Sep 2008 I have been on F1 visa status and have never left states. Do days during the 90s count and am I a resident alien now or should I file nonresident?

    Thanks,
    Mark

No, the previous J-2 time does NOT count against your five-year exemption period under the F-1 visa. Only previous J-1 time counts.
