If your name is not on a child's birth certificate, do you still pay child support?

If he's shown to be the father, and either the mother files for support or the mother files for state aid, then he will have to pay support.

As he SHOULD, if he is the father. That's called "taking responsibility for your actions", and it's the right thing to do.

Of course, they may even though child support enforcement try to collect without the DNA test but he would then be allowed to ask for the DNA test.

Being or not being on he birth certificate does not make any difference.

    • If they so order,
    • if he complies and submits to the test,
    • if the test indicates he is the father, and
    • if the court then orders him to pay,
    yes, he will have to.
