What is meant by the slope of a line that passes through the following points: (0,1) and (5,8) what is the slope formula?

The formula for slope of a line is "rise over run," or

$<br /> slope = \frac {\Delta y} {\Delta x}<br />$

In this case the change in 'y' corrdinate from one point to the next is 8-1 =7. The change in 'x' coordinate between the two points is 5-0 = 5. Consequently the slope of the line is:
