How severe is the autism ? If it is enough that they need special needs beyond turning 18 then it can last a lifetime if that is what is needed.

The law that governs is where the child lives. States have a reciprocal agreement in such cases.

As to how long you need to pay that should have been spelled out in the divorce settlement.

As to having rights to the child, why not? Visitation should have been set in the divorce!

If they want more money they will have to file and you go to family court to determine what you have to pay. Don't aruge, just tell them to file.

And of course you have rights to visit, you will have to file in court for visitation policy and when and how you are allowed.
