    Uncommon period
I am 16 and about 5days ago I had un-protected sex and today I started bleeding un exspectably and I know its not my monthly because I only just got it a few weeks ago and I have never had it twice a month.. this is really uncommon for me to be bleeding , its not heavy though (well not yet)
Can this be an early sign of pregnancy ? Or is there something wrong with me? Please help I'm worried

    Hi Sherbet_09,

It would be too early to tell if it is due to a possible pregnancy or not. It very well may be an off cycle, even if it hasn't happened to you before. Depending on the amount, and how long it lasts, it may be due to ovulation. On occasion some women do experience some bleeding/spotting at that time. This, as well, doesn't have to happen every cycle.

It is unlikely that anything is wrong with you, but of course with unprotected sex you always run the risk of disease as well as pregnancy. Even if the other person has no symptoms, or doesn't share with you that they do, you could find yourself having to deal with one of the many STDs that can occur.

It is too late for one of the emergency contraceptives, such as plan b, so you will need to wait and see what happens when your next period is due. If you are pregnant, you will need to make some decisions. If you aren't, which is most likely the case, be smart and either stop having sex (which would be preferred since you likely are not in a position to have and raise a child), or at the very least be sure to protect yourself every single time. The boy should always, always, always wear a condom, no exceptions, and you should use a form of birth control as well. If he refuses, he isn't worth your time.

Please please please wear a condom when having sex. Raising a child is more difficult than we initially assume, and it's best to take precautions than struggle to buy nappies as we are too young for a decent paid job.
