I've been on implanon birth control since 05/11/2010 , I breast feed for over a year and while breast feeding I never got periods. I thought it was because of the implonon. But when I stopped breast feeding I started getting my periods back. My concern is that since then (november 2011) I've been getting my periods every 7 to 9 days apart. Could the implanon be causing this? If so is it dangerous?

One of the most common side effects of implanon is irregular bleeding. Most women do not ovulate while breastfeeding, so they have very light or no period. It makes sense for it to begin again and be hyperactive after not having a period for a year. If you are still concerned you should contact your doctor.
