Whirlpool side by side leaking water on floor
I have been scouring the web trying to see if I can find a simple solution to a problem we are having...
This past November we purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. Several times we have noticed water on the floor underneath the side where the ice cube/ water dispenser is. The first time I though my kids were playing with the water dispenser and mopped up the water and forgot about it. It has happened several times now over the last few months. I've had a tech come out twice to look at it and he doesn't see any issues with the lines or the defrost tray. He did this last time notice that the water line is hooked up to the hot water. Would this cause the puddles? I have laminate flooring in my kitchen and the latest leak went under the flooring and was dripping down into the basement through a hole where the phone lines go. I don't think this is a stray ice cube falling out of the dispenser and if it was water from the dispenser I would see a trail down the front of the refrigerator. I know why water lines are hooked up to the hot water, but was wondering if this could be our leaking issue. Please help... We are very frustrated.

We had a similar problem. Every so often we would get a stream of water (3/4 to 1 cup) running from just underneath the filter. We had the repairman out, and he noticed that the frame around the fan was bent so severely, during the move, that the fan could not evaporate the water in the self-defrosting tray.

    Hope this helps
