What are some justified reasons for emancipation?
My dad and I have moved to a different town in California. For the past 4 or 5 years I have been under the impression I would be happier if my dad and I were no longer together. I am 16 years old and I am seriously considering emancipation but I am not sure I am qualified to become an emancipated minor. Some reasons I would want to be emancipated are; There is a complete lack of respect between the both of us, any opinion I give he throws it back in my face and forgets about it, and despite all the emotion I show, he doesn't seem to care about how I feel or what I think should happen. If anyone has advice or answers for me I would appreciate it

Being unhappy and feeling mistreated, is what almost all 16 year olds feel, and no it is not a reason. Are you being left alone for days, are you being hurt, hit, are they not feeding you, are they stealing your money.

You have to have a job, and have enough money saved to hire an attorney and file in court. You have to prove you earn enough money to pay rent (not live with someone) and pay all your own bills.

    Where is your mom?

Becoming an emancipated minor is very difficult. You have to show you can function entirely on your own. This means being able to earn your own living, live by yourself, etc. Your reasons for wanting emancipation are typical teen age angst.
