    About menstruation while breastfeeding
Good day! I am breastfeeding my 4month old baby and then got may period when he was still 2mos old. My period was jan 13-19 and the next was feb 15-19 but this march I missed it. I had unprotected sexual intercourse last march 6 but its just fast. I also had a surgery/cotary on may perineal area last feb 28. I don't know if it affected my cycle. Please help me :((

    Hi kimsantooos1,

The surgery itself, being external, isn't likely to have effected your cycle, but perhaps the stress or worry over the surgery was enough to do so. Everyone is different in how they may respond to stress.

Certainly the unprotected sex can be a factor. Are you breastfeeding exclusively and on demand? Has baby received any supplementation with formula or expressed breastmilk? Had he started to space out some feeds?

It may be your cycles are just off still even though you had a couple since giving birth. Many women will have no periods or irregular periods while breastfeeding, but pregnancy can still be possible. Give it another week and see if your period still shows. If not, try a pregnancy test.

That will increase the chances of pregnancy occurring, so do see what happens over the next several days with your period and test if need be. Again, it could be just an off cycle.
