The last owner put a 2' pvc pipe into a 4" cast iron opening -- it looks like they just filled the opening with plumbers putty - i am looking to repair it properly - what can I use to go into the cast iron 4"opening to reduce it to 2" opening which I can then attach 3? Thank you

You purchase Fernco coupling that has 4" opening on one side and 2" opening on the other side. Home Depot carries it. Cost: about $10.00.

Now, I don't understand the last part of your question: why would you want to go from 4" to 2" to 3" ? Please, elaborate.

I'm with Milo, It makes no sense to choke down to 2" only to increase to 3". Why not simply caulk in a 4X3 cast iron reducer and be done with it? Please explain? Cheers, Tom
