Hi I'm a 30 yr old mother with five kids my youngest is three but the other day I've noticed that my brests are leaking again they are sometimes sore but the thing is my tubes or tied and burnt so I don't think I'm pregnant but why would I still be leaking from my brests please help!

If you happened to breastfeed your last child, you may find that you can still experience some leaking even years later. However, that can be a number of possible reasons it is occurring now. Are you having leaking from both breasts or just one? Do they leak on their own or only when pressure is applied? Is the fluid clear, white, or discolored? Does it happen randomly or do you notice about the time of a period?

One of the more common reasons is a shift in hormones. Some women will experience an increase in the hormone prolactin, which can result in some leaking. There can be other hormonal causes as well. Pregnancy, is very unlikely, but it would be tested for if you were to see your doctor as it has been known to happen after a tubal ligation.

Most of the causes are benign, but there can be more serious reasons. Either way, best to see your doctor if you find this continues to rule out any concerns and for the peace of mind.
