My ex-husband is in prison and he was ordered to pay child support. I have been told that I can receive a check from the state... is this true and how do I go about to do this? We live in Florida.
Thanks

If a parent that is in jail has income or assets that can be used to pay for your child's support, he has to continue to pay child support.
I am not sure that you are entitled to receive a check from the state unless you are qualified for benefits.
Some inmates do get a small stipend. Also they may have external income from investments. Such would require support to continue.
You should contact your local social services agency to see what benefits you can get.
