    Kentucky Taxes
    I do some work from my home in Florida for I company locate in Kentucky? Do I have to pay Kentucky and Kentucky city tax?

    No. You do not pay KY income tax unless you either (a) reside in KY or (b) work while physically present in KY. If you do all your work while in FL then you do not have to pay any KY income tax.

    Generally, you'd have to file a KY return and pay tax there if either of these two are true:
    1. KY is your state of residence; or
    2. You earn money for work you performed within the state of KY.


    It doesn't sound like either of these are true in your case, based on your brief description. If you live in FL and all your work is performed entirely within FL, then you have no obligation for KY taxes or tax return simply because your checks are issued by a company HQ'd in KY.

    Caveat: If the company you're working for happens to be a partnership or LLC, AND you are also a partner in this company, then you might have to file a KY return. Again, your description doesn't indicate such, but check with a tax advisor in your area if you are a partner or LLC member in this KY-domiciled entity.
