    Tax under OPT and H1B
    Hi

I am an Indian and planning to do a job in New Mexico State. Currently I am under OPT and planning to start job at 55k annually. Can I know how much tax will be deducted from my pay monthly and how much can I get in OPT and after H1B filing is done. Can I know the monthly payment I can get after all taxes(including state, federal and all other) in both OPT and H1B.

    Thanks

You will pay Social Security taxes at 4.2% and Medicare taxes at 1.45%. That STARTS when your H-1B visa becomes effective.

The federal and New Mexico state income tax will depend on a number of factors, such as whether you are married or not.
