Dogwoods have blooms but no leaves
We have had some really weird weather in N.C. Cold then warm alternately for the past couple months. My dogwood trees now have small undersize blooms, but not the first leaf. My forsythia, camellia, and crabapple have all bloomed but were covered in bright green leaves.
Could it be that they are diseased or just confused?

Not uncommon to show bloom first. Same thing happens with a redbud. My dogwood,in Atlanta, has bracts but no leaves.

Thanks, this is only my second summer at this house and I've never had dogwood in my yard.
I suppose I just didn't notice it last year.
I just returned home from Savannah, Georgia is beautiful right now, by the way.

Why would a pink dogwood tree have blooms but not the first leaf?

You posted on another question but the answer is the same. Dogwood trees produce bracts, not blooms. They very typically come out before the leaves.
