Maytag Neptune Gas Dryer Flame Not Present
Our Maytag Neptune Gas Dryer MOD: MDG3000AWW, S/N: 13282488UU, does not dry on either heat setting (normal; perm press). Thanks to earlier discussions on this site, I learned to check the igniter, which I've found does not glow. What should I do next?

Never mind - I pulled the igniter out and it's blown like a fuse. Will replace tomorrow.

Let me just add a little to this one.
This is a Neptune Dryer from 1989 - Model MDG3000AWW.
Same symptoms on my dryer = drum spins gas never ignites -> no heat.
    The ignitor was open circuit.
I took it off and found a crack in the third bar of the ignitor about 5/8" from the tip.
I will order a new one, only about $28.
Until the new one arrives, I'm going to see if the old one can be repaired by welding it.
I guess this isn't too bad after 9.5 years of service but in general, I'm not a Maytag appliance fan.
Our Neptune washer has been a lot of trouble and expense.
    Cheers,

No, you definitely cannot weld one of these babies.
The element is made from a very brittle composite material.
I guess metallic something but I'm not sure what.
It broke in a second place as I prepared to weld it.
Hence, I imagine a new one will have to be very well cushioned (packed) to be able to ship without breaking.
