I've got to GE gas dryer. Every time I put in a new load to dry, I get a loud almost grinding sqeaky noise then the noise will go away. I pulled the back off to no avail. It seems like there must be rubber wheels worn down, But I'm unable to locate them on the drum. MOD#: DQSR483GE1WW

Go to YouTube to see how to fix this. Some GE dryers have a rear drum bearing and others do not. You still need to tear it down and clean it. On the front/top of dryer there are clips on each side. Take a putty knife and slide between the two pieces and you will feel a spring clip that you press in to release the top. The other screws are all around the front piece, even some inside the door, so look around. You will have to clean the drier out thoroughly. Every air duct will have to be removed and scraped and washed out to remove baked on lint deposits which bakes on like a concrete lining. This will burn so the manufacturer has installed the safeties to keep from having a house fire. Driers were the number one cause of fires at one time. When you finish cleaning the drier it is best to also replace the belt, too, because you do not want to have to disassemble it again, and if the belt is over two years old you should replace it.

Note that on most of the videos it does not show them washing out the parts, but this is important because it's the only way to really get the parts clean, just don't get motor wet or the capacitor if it has one. Vacuum out motor. I would move the drier out to your garage to have plenty of space to work. You also want to check your vent and clean it, also. The job is really easier than it sounds. There is no shortcut that will work; it has to be cleaned well. Before you re-assemble it make sure to use white lithium grease (high-temp grease) and grease all bearings. Just vacuuming out the dryer a little does little good. You also want to check the vent and clean it out. When you are done you will have a new dryer and it will dry like new again. You want to clean it like this every two years or every year with many children. If the dryer has no drum bearing you will have support rollers that you will have to replace if they are worn out. Hey I got my answer and made my repair. Here's what I did: I googled GE dryer do it yourself washer and dryer repair. I then clicked on the make of appliance, GE dryer, then clicked on the Video that gave examples of what may be wrong. One choice was "noise". I clicked on that and it let me to what I needed to replace. For this particular GE gas dryer does not have drum rollers but rather a drum bearing and 4-bearing glides. The vid clip showed me how to replace them without taking all the panels off. Should anyone need help in finding this site, just give me a holler or email. Be safe always out there.

You still need to tear down these dryers to clean them because if you don't the safeties will blow, and if it's old enough to give any problems it needs cleaning. It only takes a year or two to get packed with dirt. When you clean it you can see what is wrong, and if this model has a drum bearing you have to pull the drum out anyway. I wouldn't halfway do any job; you will just have to tear it all down again.
