I don't know if I'm experiencing flu like symptoms or pregnancy. My last period was 2 weeks ago. So I would have had to have conceived right after my period which I know is possible. But I am having head aches but no fever and no chills. I've also been extremely nauseated since early this morning with a few vomiting episodes as well.I have a slight slight sore throat , but I've also heard that's possibly in early pregnancy. I just need to know if it is possible that I could be pregnant and having these signs.

Yes, it could be due to pregnancy. Some women will feel symptoms before a missed period. However, as you said, it could be an illness as well. All you can do is wait and see what happens when you would expect the next period. Certainly, if you continued to have nausea longer than several days, you might want to check with your doctor before your next period.

I've just been reading online about it to see what I could find out because I rarely throw up when I get sick. I'm sort of confused. My last period started March 4th and every calculator online and what not says I wouldn't be technically pregnant for another week. My next period isn't even due until the 1st of April. Aren't the chances of me already being pregnant really slim?

Oh and I am having surgery on April 5th for my wrist, but I have to go into the hospital next week (about a week and a half before my expected period) for blood work/routine pregnancy tests. Will it come up on that stuff? Or should I be sure to check again prior to the surgery? Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm just worried with all the surgery stuff coming up.

Yes, the chances of you feeling symptoms now, due to a pregnancy, are slim, but not entirely impossible. It depends on when you happened to ovulate. Odds are greater that you are fighting an illness. The sore throat, for example, could be due to illness or the recent bouts of vomiting.
Is there a reason you wonder if it could be due to pregnancy? Again, you will have to wait until your next period is due and see what happens.

Don't worry about asking questions... that is what we are here for... :) Did you have unprotected sex after your last period? When they do the blood work, they can determine if you are pregnant or not. Blood tests for pregnancy can usually show positive about a week or so after conception.

Yes me and my fiancé had unprotected sex for many days after my last period. I'm really regular though as I am on a form of birth control. 28 days always, maybe 27 if I'm stressing out. Unfortunately I did miss a couple of pills last month which I don't usually do.So I don't see how I could have ovulated so early. But sorry for the TMI, the times we had sex there was a couple he did ejaculate inside which he never does.

If you missed the pills last month, but have been using them on time since, and have had a normal period for this month, that makes it even more unlikely that you are pregnant.

I can understand the concern, however, with a surgery planned. Rest assured that they should be able to pick up a pregnancy when you have the blood work done next week.

Well when I missed the pills it was barely a week prior to the unprotected sex. I just wanted to know if there was any chance the nurse could come in next week and tell me I was lol. Thank you for all your help. I'll keep it posted on here and share what ends up happening :]

There are a few different tests that can be done. If someone uses a urine test, it often does not show a positive result until a period has been missed. Some women may get a positive a few days before a period is due, but accuracy increases after an expected period doesn't show. For some women, it will take several weeks or so after that.

A blood test can be done that will determine a positive or negative result as well, but even better would be a quantitative blood test that will give an actual level of hcg... the hormone associated with pregnancy. This shows up in the blood before it will in the urine, so blood tests can detect a high enough level to confirm pregnancy much sooner. They can sometimes pick it up the week or so after conception has occurred. This will depend on how soon implantation occurs, and can be individual. It normally takes a few days for the fertilized egg to travel to the uterus and a few to implant. Generally, the sooner this occurs, the better the odds are for a pregnancy to continue. Late implantation often results in miscarriage, although many women never notice it as it is so early.
