    How long does a misdemeaner stay on your record? I was charged 32 years ago?

    It's always on your record unless you apply to have it expunged, after which it's only available to the courts.
    Most background checks don't go back that far because they cost more the more years that are asked for. Often just 5 or 10.

    If it was ever put on the computer system, it stays there forever. Many very old reports done before some departments were fully computerized were never entered. Have you ran a report on yourself to see if it shows up?
