Where did you hear that it's safe to have sex 1 week before and 1 week after your period? Unless you know for sure when you ovulate (which most women don't) there's never a safe time. Some women have gotten pregnant while on their period. Although rare, it can happen.

So yes, there's a definite possibility of pregnancy.

You'll have to try a pregnancy test. Make sure to follow the directions exactly.

Just remember that there's no such thing as safe sex. Any time you have sex pregnancy is possible. Even with protection pregnancy is still possible.

    Good luck.

The weeks after are when you are most likely to get pregnant cause the cycle starts over

    Not necessarily.

It all depends on when she ovulates. A woman can ovulate any time during the month, including while she's on her period (not the norm, but it can and does happen).

The bottom line, there is no "safe" time of the month to have unprotected sex. Any time you have sex pregnancy is possible, even with protection.
