Live in NYC go to collegein NY state and work in NJ
Hey I currently work in nj and live in nyc and dorm at college in ny state and although I get money back from nj state I pay out to ny almost double that and I feel because I'm at college I'm missing something because that's a lot of money to pay. Is there any way to lower ny state tax?

Stop working? What numbers are we talking... as in what are the taking out, and out of what size paycheck... and what will that translate to per year.

Being in college isn't a tax holiday. The amount you pay is calculated on your actual income... and if its low enough you migt get a lot of that back at the end of the year...

We need a lot more information than you provided... But generally both NJ and NY both are exceptionally high taxed states.
