Hi bcurtis10,
It sounds as though you may have SPD (symphsis pubic dysfunction). Do you tend to notice it more when getting in and out of the car, walking up stairs, or getting in and out of bed? You can ask your doctor or midwife about using a pregnancy support band. You can also try to avoid movements where you separate your legs. When you get in and out of bed or the car, for example, do your best to bring your legs over together.
Check with your doctor or midwife at your next visit. Sometimes physical therapy will be suggested. If they determine that it is due to SPD, be aware of positions you use during labor and birth. For birth, options such as hands and knees, or kneeling, may be better choices if possible. If you are in a semi-sitting position for birth, and especially if you choose to have an epidural, be mindful of not pulling too far back on your legs.
If you are having severe pain and you are 26 weeks - you need to be evaluated immediately - you might have preterm labor, or you might have something as simple as an urinary tract infection - so you need to call your doctor and go to Labor and Delivery to get this evaluated.
Thank you
