    Programmable thermostats, heat anticipator
Is there any heat anticipator adjustment on programmable digital thermostats?

Probably not, but there may be a cycle rate adjustment.

I copied the user's manual for the programmable thermostat on line, checked the furnace type micro-switch settings on the back, and found that I had set the unit for forced air instead of warm water. When set properly the cycling times changed significantly. So the swithces do control cycling as juggallojed correctly stated.
