I am trying to identify a series of at least 6 paper mache Asian dolls. They are dressed in simple clothing. One is a grey haired man smoking a long pipe, a man carrying a broom, a lady stopped over carrying a basket on her back, a man carrying a tray of food on strapped to his shoulders, a woman carrying a bottle and a woman with a basket on her head.
They represent the common man and have large heads and posed on a square reddish colored base. They are performing everyday tasks. And I've been told that are sold in pairs based on their activity.
I think they are from the 1950's or 1960's. They could be Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
I think the series has continued, but modern ones are more colorful.
