Having trouble with the shower. More water coming out of faucets than the shower. We replaced the diverter but this did not help. Any other ideas.
Thanks

Remove the shower head and check to see if it is clogged. Run water to the shower without the head. That might flush out a blockage. If water won't come out without the head, go back and recheck the diverter.
Listen to Labman,
And check what he instructs you to. It sounds like when you replaced the diverter you left a piece of trash or mineral build up in the diverter housing stopping the diverter from seating all the way and letting water seep out of the spout. Good luck, Tom
Ran CLR through everything. Water comes through the shower without the head on but still have a lot of water coming out of facet. Should the shower diverter be opened all the way before screwing it back in to the wall.
Thanks for all your help
Now I need to know the brand name of your faucet. How old? Got a model number or a style name? I'll wait to hear from you. Regards, Tom
American standard probably 20 years old.
Sorry, American Standard won't let me pull specs. From 20 years ago. A diverter simply shuts off the spout and sends water up to the shower head when you activate it. The flap HAS to be FULLY SEATED before the flow is cut off to the spout. It acts like you still have something on the seat that prevents the diverter flap from seating properly. Take the diverter out and recheck the seat. It should make no difference what position the diverter is in when you install it. Regards, Tom
