A British Thermal Unit (BTU) is the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree F. This is the standard measurement used to state the amount of energy that a fuel has as well as the amount of output of any heat generating device.

Does this help, as I have no idea how to understand your question, seems to me you need to know the length of the schedule 40 pipe is and how many pounds of water it takes to fill the pipe

In order to find out what you need to know. You need to know how much heat transfer your going to have in that X amount of feet.Temperature on the out side of the pipe and your reynolds number.
