I was told that I could install a 2" dia x 10 foot long pipe with end capped off on Saniplus macerating pump instead of having to vent it through the roof . Is this correct?

No, that is wrong... completely wrong!

A saniflo macerator pump vent needs to connect into a vent from your plumbing system (must connect into the existing plumbing vent a minimum of 42" off the floor).

Check out page #1 and section 2.9... required venting. Note especially the fact that not only does this need to be vented, but not even mechanical vents will work here (instructions explain why). After reading/reviewing the vent/plumbing diagram, pop back and let me know what you think, OK?

Where did you plan to terminate that 10' pipe? Follow Marks great instructions.

There's a reason you can't use a AAV on a pit vent. When the toilet or lavatory discharges it pulls air into the vent to relieve suction. However, the pit vent's a different story. As the discharge from the fixtures enters the pit it expells air out then pit vent and when the pit pump kicks in it will pull air in as a regular vent. AAVs can't handle this.
My question is what ever happened to "the dedicated pit vent? Seem to me Saniflow set up a closed vent system where as the fixtures discharged into the pit it was pulling air into a single vent at the same time the pit was expelling air into the same vent. When was the dedicated vent discontinued and why?

Saniflo and its MACERATING PUMP system is different from the traditional sewage ejectors we've been working with for years.

The sewage ejector systems still require the "dedicated vent", but these macerator pumps don't as they only have a 3/4" discharge line... still needs a vent, but isn't pulling/pushing enough that the dedicated vent is needed... ;)

I noticed the smaller discharge line but figured since the same volume of air displaced by the fixtures discharge the air would simply compress and expel the air out at a higher pressure. Thanks to you guys I'm still learning. Cheers, Tom

Hi Gibby... NO, you cannot use a one way vent for this system. If you read the instructions they specifically prohibit the use of AAVs with the saniflo system... ;)
