What is an agreed judgement?
I have signed an agreed judgement for an outstanding debt with Citibank. The agreement with the Attorney (Collector) was to pay a small amount per month for a year, and then the amount would go up after a year. (From 250-800) I knew I wouldn't be able to make the higher payment but I agreed to make the lower payment in hopes of being able to settle at the end of a year. As it is, I can't offer a settlement right now, but I can continue with the small payment. They have told me I am in "default" but they can't refuse my payments. I'm not sure what will happen next. I'm also wondering if I should continue to make payments at all since the judgement has been filed and the debt written off on their part already. If my credit score can't get any worse, and they can't put me in jail or take money from my bank account (I'm in Texas) why should I pay? (Of course, I know why, morally, but I am trying to play their game) My main goal is to get my credit score up so that I can refinance my mortgage. I have income to make monthly payments, but can't settle until I sell some real estate I own.
