I have a hunting cabin that is not used all the time with a well water system. When you first turn on the sink or shower or whatever there is good pressure for about 2-3 seconds then the pressure disappears. If you turn on the sink there is not enough water to get back to the bathroom. It just seems the pressure is totally gone. We have a pressure tank on the system, is this the problem?

What does the pressure gage read? Is the line to the cabin under pressure and then falls off when you make a draw? How old is the cabin and what material are the pipes? Any more details you can give me? Back to you, Tom

Didn't have a pressure gauge with me. The well, hot water tank, and pressure tank are in a concrete pit outside the cabin. We have owned it about ten years. Not sure how long everything was there from the previous owner. The only thing we have done so far was a new hot water tank last fall. Pipes are PVC.

Seth, it sounds like you have an obstruction somewhere in the piping. Speedball is asking about pressure because it is important to know if the system pressure is staying at, let's say, 40#, but pressure at the faucet disappears. If that's the case, then you have an obstruction. There should be a pressure gauge somewhere on the system, probably near the switch.

Is there a shutoff valve somewhere going to the house? If so, then that's a logical place to look for a blockage.
