    Bad breath and hernias
Do you get a bad odor in your mouth when you have a hernia?

Do you just have bad breath and worried about hernia or do you have a hernia and worried it is causing bad breath ?

It's not me. Someone I know said their breath smelled like they had a hernia and I was curious if that was possible.

Actually the two are related, hernia and bad breath.

A hernia is a condition whereby the stomach bulges through an opening in the diaphragm. The diaphragm helps keep acid from coming up into the esophagus. When you have a hernia it is easier for the acid to come up.

The leaking of acid from the stomach is called GERD or gastroesophagal reflux which may cause heartburn or bad breath
Although I don't know how a hernia smells.
