CT state taxes are not being withheld from my pay?
Is it illegal for my employer to not take state taxes out of my paycheck. The company was in Mass and no state taxes were withheld and then we moved to Ct and still no state taxes are being withheld. They take SS Medicare and Federal out and that's it.
    Thank you for your time.

Technically, your employer IS legally obligated to withhold taxes for the state in which you live and work.

However, if he fails to do so, what are you going to do? Complain to the state tax authorities, get him in trouble and probably GET FIRED for your trouble?

Better to just pay the taxes when you file the return or, if you want to be pro-active, pay quarterly estimated taxes to the states involved.

Thanks, I know to pay them. Just wondered if it was illegal for them to not take them out. I keep asking them to, they say I have to make over $403.00 week. Just sounds kind of weird to me. Thanks for your time.
