I am 20 years and have a one year old son. I recently broke up with the father and now dating my friend's cousin. Things started good up until we became serious. He lies to his father when he is with me, and I have not met anyone from his side. Every time we have to go, he always has an excuse. Is it because I have a child and he does not? And he is ashamed of me, or am I asking him too much?

I can't say why he lies... there could be many reasons. I suggest that maybe you sit down and try to calmly talk to him about this and see if he will tell you. I think he at least owes you an explanation, don't you?

How old are you both? How long have you been broken up from the baby daddy? How long have you been dating this fellow? More info please.

It sounds like you are moving too fast. Maybe he just isn't ready to let you meet his family, and depending on his culture, dating a woman with a child from another man might not be something parents or family members approve of. If it bothering you this much, why don't you ask him if there is something wrong, having a good level of communication with someone when a relationship is young creates a great base when more complicated problems arise in the future. Also, the responsibility of taking care of a child needs to be taken into consideration when you date someone that already has one. Are you sure this guy is willing to do the job?

I don't know a lot about this situation, but maybe you should just ask him whether his dad knows if you two are even dating. Then take it from there.
