    Broken Medatarsal?
Today I fell dwn the steps and I had a plate and the glass from my plate cut my foot right under my right pinkie toe. I look to see if there was anything else wrong and I saw that my 5th medatarsal was putruding to the side a little bit and it turned a dark purplish color (I couldn't really tell since my skin is dark). I think I may have broken it but I don't know what to do because I've broken this bone before and it looked exactlly how it does now. Should I get ot checked and what is the usual treatment for this? Last time they found it was broken 3-5 weeks after it had happened. Thank you!

Go have it x-rayed. That's the only way to be sure. The metatarsals are bones. If one is broken and can be set, it should be. Bone protruding through the skin can cause severe infections. Why wait?
