Kansas law... how are each individuals assets protected in a legal separation?

A Separation Agreement is worked out between the parties and then "ratified" by the Court and can be turned into the Divorce Settlement.

A Divorce is argued and then a Judge or mediator/arbitrator decides where the assets go.
